Client Tools to SecureIT Conversion


While we have done everything possible to make the conversion from Client Tools or any existing Virus protection application to SecureIT an easy process there are a few things that can make the transition even easier for you. Though the installation is a fairly fast process the first scan may take some time while the program scans your computer so be patient and let the application do its work. Most importantly if you have issues at anytime during the installation please do not hesitate to call the help desk for assistance.

The first step is to give our business office a call and signup for SecureIT, as the customer service representative enables the service on your account a welcome email message will be generated and sent to your email address on record, be sure to tell the CSR your preferred email address. The welcome email contains your access key to the download and installation of SecureiIT.

When you are ready to install SecureIT it is important that any antivirus applications be uninstalled from your computer before you begin. Please note that once existing anti-virus applications have been removed your computer will not be protected until you complete the SecureIT installation.

Add Remove Programs in Windows XP

  • 1. Click- Start and choose My Computer
  • 2. Under System Tasks click - Add or remove programs
  • 3. Once loaded you will see all of programs installed on your computer.
  • 4. Locate the anti-virus program (this includes Client Tools and Virus Command) and click the Remove button located at the top of the window and follow the prompts.

  • 1. Click Start and choose Control Panel,
  • 2. In Control Panel double click on the "Programs and Features" icon.
  • 3. Here you can find all the programs and items which are installed in Windows Vista.
  • 4. To remove any of them click once on the program you want to uninstall and then click on Uninstall/Change and follow the prompts.

    Your welcome email contains your security key and a clickable web link to the SecureIT download site.

    There are two options to install the SecureIT program, you can click the link provided in the welcome message and download from the SecureIT web site (be sure to save the files to your desktop) or we can provide you with a CD for a manual installation (this is the best option if you are on a dial-up connection). Using the manual option requires you to copy and paste the key provided in the welcome letter when prompted during the install process.

    Once the install is completed the program automatically looks for updates, be patient as this may take a few minutes. After the updates are current, the program will ask if you would like to Scan Now (recommended) or Scan Later. A full scan can take over an hour in some cases so be patient until the scan is completed.

    That’s all there is to it. A monthly report will be emailed to you with a summary of the various threats you have been protected against or you can check the status at anytime by clicking the SecureIT icon on your desktop.
